Beach Yoga (April - October)
Beach yoga is great for all levels. We meet on the beach at the Ocean Front Park Beach access just north of the Kure Beach Pier. The GPS address for the beach access is 110 Atlantic Avenue. Bring your own beach towel to enjoy an all levels yoga flow class on the beach. Breathe in the breath of the ocean, stretch, strengthen and enjoy our beautiful beach with the soundtrack of the waves crashing to shore.
Vinyasa Yoga
Our Vinyasa classes are great for all levels and are ideal for those looking to gain more strength from their yoga practice. This class includes dynamic movements between yoga poses. This flow of movement is excellent for getting your heart rate going and working up a sweat. Vinyasa can also help increase flexibility, strength, stability, calmness, and focus.
Reggae Yoga
This class is a laid back, slower paced Vinyasa style class set to Reggae music. Each class usually incorporates Samdhaana Yoga, a practice for healing the energetic body and strengthening the physical body. Some classes may be delivered in mandala format, as the mandala itself offers many aspects of healing. The energy of the body is constantly seeking balance, with the heart being at the center of that balance. In warmer months, Reggae Yoga is held on the Ocean Front Stage to take in the beautiful ocean views and sounds of the sea.
Gentle Yoga Flow
This class is great for all levels and is ideal for those looking for stretching and strengthening of the muscles in a laid back environment. Classes begin seated, we move through a spinal warm up to stretch the spine in all directions. A few sun salutations (flowing through mountain, forward flow, plank, cobra and down dog) are offered to connect breath with movement. Standing poses are incorporated to build strength and get the body moving. The class wraps up with seated and supine stretches to lengthen muscles and of course a lovely savasana with optional adjustments.
Hatha Yoga
Movement and breath practice based on traditional Sivinanda, Integral Hatha Yoga, and Bihar philosophies designed to strengthen and relax the whole body, mind and emotions. This fun and active class includes many standing and balancing poses.
Healthy Bodies Yoga
Healthy bodies is a class focused on helping you move and feel your best in your life on and off of the mat. Options will be offered for all levels.Yoga promotes a healthy body by improving flexibility, strength, and balance. It also enhances respiratory function, reduces stress, and supports mental well-being through mindfulness and relaxation techniques.
Yin Yoga
In this class we will target and increase circulation in the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues. Ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and meridians. This is accomplished by holding poses anywhere from two to seven minutes. We will work on finding stillness in your posture and in your mind. Yin yoga is great for increasing flexibility, calming your nervous system and reducing stress and sleep disturbances.
Chair Yoga
While Chair Yoga is one of the gentlest forms of yoga available, through regular practice, chair yoga can also provide you with a path for increased balance, strength, flexibility, range of motion, increased mental clarity and stress reduction. This class is accessible for everyone regardless of any limited mobility issues you may be experiencing. It can even be beneficial for those who have an existing more advanced yoga practice but want to stretch stiff muscles, open up stiff joints or simply want to stop and step out of the busyness of everyday life. No previous yoga experience is necessary. We will primarily explore the poses while seated but may also add standing poses using a chair for support.
ONLINE - Zoom - Stretch Strengthen and Restore Alignment Based Hatha Yoga
We will stretch, move a little in a gentle series that includes strengthening poses, then make our way on to the mat for more strengthening and stretching then move into the sweet rest of svanasana.
Bring your own mat or you can borrow a mat for classes in the community center. We also have bolsters, blocks, straps and blankets in the community center. For classes on the beach, we recommend bringing a large beach towel which works best on the sand.
We recommend wearing comfortable, breathable clothing that allows you to move freely. Kure Beach Yoga is a laidback environment...come as you are!

Marla is a managing partner of Kure Beach Yoga. Yoga has been part of Marla’s life for almost 20 years now and there are many reasons why she continues to practice. Marla says that “aside of the many health benefits, practicing yoga allows me to deepen the connection to my true self and be present not only on my mat, but to myself and others. With the chaos that finds its way into each day, I find that each yoga class slows me down and reconnects me to what is important.” Marla completed her certification to teach Samdhaana yoga in 2020 and is Registered with Yoga Alliance (RYT 200). She has also received her Reiki Masters Certification crediting her yoga practice for introducing her to the body’s 7 main energy centers or “chakras” which led her to the healing practice of Reiki or “Universal Life-Force Energy“. Marla’s classes are laid back, soulful and offer the student a chance to set aside ego and just be.
